Hello everyone!
First of all, a great big “Thank You” for your response to my email request regarding the most important things you would expect in a child locator system. The response was, quite honestly, overwhelming!! So many great ideas from so many wonderful people.
I have compiled all of the responses in a table format for this report so that it is easy to read and understand. I have had to group many of your suggestions into similar categories….a lot of you referred to similar ideas but with different words. So, I made the best attempt I could to group them together logically.
I have some comments that have arisen from the suggestions you gave us:
1. Some of the suggestions were actually contradictory to others suggestions. For example, some wanted their tracking device to be quiet so that no perpetrator would know that it was one the child. But, others wanted it to have a loud alarm or siren on it so that, if the child was in public if they were to be taken, the siren or alarm would go off alerting the public of the situation.
2. This is a big one…most of you were thinking of an abductor or sexual predator taking your child when you thought of a feature. Although this is a very real fear and is getting more and more common in our society, the day to day usage of a child tracking device is probably more practically applied to just wondering where your child is so that you never have to get to the point where you think an abductor or predator has your child. What I am trying to say is, you still need the use of a child tracking device whether there is a threat of a predator or not. Just the peace of mind of knowing where your child is at dinner time or if they got to a friend’s house rather than getting lost or if they are heading home in the right direction after school. You may never have the problem of dealing with a predator, but you may deal daily with the worry of your child getting lost close to home or getting hurt and not being able to find them. Does that make sense?
3. Many of you wanted a child tracking device that is so small that it can be either implanted in your child or put in a shoelace or the heel of a shoe or in a pendant or earring. Although that idea may be perpetrated by futuristic television shows and movies, the reality is that the technology is not yet available to make a unit that small. We, at Amber Alert GPS, actually now have the smallest child tracking GPS device on the planet and it is still too big to put into a pendant, for example. But, I will tell you that when the technology is available, we will employ it!!
OK, so lets get on to the results of our survey. Here is what you told us. I have created the categories and then taken the number of each category and divided it by the total suggestions to get a percentage for each category. You can see that, for example, 10.69% of your wanted to have a child locator device that was “easy to hide/discreet/inconspicuous to others and to child/hide in shoe”. I hope that explains the percents.
Here are the suggestions:

FYI: Many of these features will be available on the Amber Alert GPS 2G child location system when it is released in August 2009. Having said that, there are some great ideas that we will surely implement as time goes by, some of which are just software changes that can be made even after the purchase of a 2G unit is made.
Thank you, again, for your valuable input. I hope you enjoyed this report as much as I enjoyed writing it from all of your input.

I just want to thank you for taking so much of your time to help others. We need alot more people like you out there.
You are doing a WONDERFUL JOB........
THANKS SO MUCH
Thanks so much for letting me know about the Amber Alert GPS because I have a 10-year-old and a 3-year-old who I'm very concerned about their safety.
Thank you
My son disappeared for about 10 minutes this Sunday, it was awful. When is the new Amber Alert GPS 2G going to be available and where can I look at one? Where can I buy one?
You had mentioned that there is no gps tracking device available small enough to be implanted into a child. Does that mean that the gps tracking devices which are currently being implanted in dogs are too big to actually be implanted in them? I just don't understand. Could you tell me more about why this is not possible in a child? Just courious.
This is great info. Thank you for putting this info out there for everyone who is interested.
Thank you for caring about our families and kids it proves that there is some good people still out there!! How much will this all be??
I just got a letter from one of our subscribers thinking that I was referring to them when I said that some parents didn't care about their kid's safety.
I think I better clarify what I meant...you may be surprised to know that some parents emailed me back and thought that caring about where their child was located was silly. I couldn't believe it myself because I watch my children all the time.
This reference was also about parents that thought our Child Safety Tips were a waste of email space. This is what I was referring to...certainly not our active subscribers.
We unsubscribe those who thought our work for child safety was "silly" so they wouldn't have to listen to my drabble about child safety. But, thanks for making this clear...maybe there are other parents who read that the wrong way too! Thanks for reading my emails and for your thoughtful feedback!!
I love the fact that you noted that even when not in danger of a predator, we still need to be aware of where are children are at all times. As a mom of a child with Autism, her wandring off in a store is very real. I've actually had Walmart do an Amber Alert because I couldn't find her! And the whole time she was sitting in a cart by the entrance thinking I would know where she was. I had no idea where she was and I never want to have that happen again!
Thanks for doing this!!!
Thank you for the time and sweat you put into this, it means alot to us parents who constantly are worrying about our kids and their safety. I know that I can't wait till the new Amber Alert GPS 2G becomes available to put on my kids. Thanks so much again.
Margaret Zuelke, i could not agree with you more the technology is there all we need to do is find what these other people are calling "wonderful" people who do not care about the money that is being made by these products, the never ending " new and improved" line that is going to make these companies more money is the number one reason why they claim there is not the technology to make them small enough for our children.
but the vets are evil creatures straight from satans loins because they will implant these monsterous chips in our pets. Now most sites are telling us that these chips for the children cause cancer and tumors...so in the long run why should we be putting them in our pets. Not one company can tell me that a chip made to fit into a kittens ear is to big to put into an ear ring or implanted into a child. Now if i have to i will personally prove to these companies that they are full of it. Then maybe the world may open their eyes to more facts then what they are told.
Good Luck to all you parents out there.
